Hey there! Today I’m going to talk about our latest assignment: designing AI-integrated teaching material. For this task, my group and I had to create a fun and interactive lesson for EFL high school prep students. We chose movie genres as our topic because who doesn’t love movies?
Our material starts with a pre-task where students match movie genre descriptions with their correct categories (like Comedy, Action, Horror, etc.). Then, we guide them into the real fun part: planning a movie night using ChatGPT! Students form groups, brainstorm their favourite genres, and interact with ChatGPT to decide details like the best time, a chosen movie, and how to make the event enjoyable for everyone. After that, they summarise their ideas and create a poster to share with their friends. Honestly, while the idea sounds exciting, we found it tough to align AI tools with educational goals. Figuring out how to make it practical without feeling gimmicky was a bit of a struggle. Still, I think the material is useful for encouraging creativity and collaboration while also practicing English.
