Cyberbullying and My First Infographic!

Hello everyone, it's me again!

Today I want to introduce you to infographics. I learned about them in one of my classes and created one myself for an assignment (stay tuned, you will see it below). Basically, we were supposed to pick a topic about ethical and legal issues related to effective technology use and I chose "cyberbullying". I think even though there are many concerns about cyberbullying, the topic doesn’t get enough recognition.

So it is important to educate ourselves and the people around us about it. That’s why, in my infographic I will give you some tips on how to behave when encountered.

Before all that, let’s start with defining an infographic. It's a way of delivering information with the help of visuals in a simple way. They help people to recall information and easily can be shared through social media. There are many types of infographics such as statistical, timeline, informational and list infographics which I will be presenting to you in this post.

Here's my infographic: https://create.piktochart.com/output/144c9c379e8a-cyberbullying-dos-and-don-ts

I’m sure there are many websites to create one but I’ve used piktochart since it was advised to me by my lecturer. I can say that it was pretty easy to create because there are thousands of templates there.

Now, we can move on to the potential educational impact of infographics.

Thanks to technology children are so used to the visual stimulation and now it’s an inseparable part of our lives and therefore education.

As a preservice teacher, I believe using visuals contributes to students' ability to make connections and this is even more important in second language classrooms. Visuals feed their imagination and can also encourage them to be active in the classroom by making the subject more enjoyable. Therefore, the use of infographics should be supported in ESL environments.

That’s it for today, let me know what you think in the comments.

See you in the next one!
