Creating an AR/VR integrated teaching material

Hey there, today I’m going to talk about using AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) in language teaching. If you are already interested in gaming you might also entertain this idea.
In simple terms:
  • VR places you in a completely virtual environment – think of survival games for example.
  • AR overlays digital elements in the real world – imagine scanning a textbook with a phone and watching a 3D hologram of an English tutor appear, explaining vocabulary right in front of you.

For our latest assignment, my friends and I explored how we can design an AR/VR-related language learning materials and create interactive lessons. We focused on a virtual trip to Rome  and added QR codes that will take the students to the 360 videos of Colosseum, Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. Thanks to these virtual tours, they can walk through the Italian streets and learn about the historical landmarks. Then, we tried to ask them some questions which will evoke critical thinking and require research.
