Language Learning and 21st Century Skills: Are they related?

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a good day. Today I want to talk about some of the skills that we need to acquire in order to achieve a sufficient learning experience in the 21st century.

Since the world evolves rapidly it's important to keep track of all the information and more important to fact-check. This acquires information and communication technology literacy. Of course, you being here and reading this blog shows that you have a certain level of ICT literacy. However, it has more than just using technological devices we have. This skill enables us to analyze the gathered information and use it later on which also might contribute to our creativity.

Now, what is the relationship between ICT literacy and language learning? As you might have noticed, in the last couple of years a lot of language learning applications have been developed.  These applications allow learners to receive feedback and communicate with the native speakers of the target language through the app which encourages communication and collaboration between users. Due to their authentic design and attention grabbing features, these applications can also be used in second language classrooms where students can practice their ICT literacy skills.

What do you think about this skill and have you heard of any other 21st century skills? Let me know with a comment below. See you in the next one!
